How full is your cup?

It’s 2016! Can you believe it!

Normally I write a New Year To Do list for the year, but this year I’m going to try something a little different.

I know that I talk a lot about investing in your future, especially financially. I share a lot of statistics about women and retirement and incomes etc, and I am all for empowering women with the tools to build a great future and move forward with any property project they choose with confidence. I like to also encourage women to at least think about what they can achieve and to realise that they do deserve and can have a great life.

But I am also very aware that even just thinking about these things can be extremely overwhelming. Because let’s be honest here, most of the women I know are doing a million things at once, working, running a household, keeping the kids happy. I have no doubt that you are one of these women too. It’s hard to think about the future when there is so much going on in the here and now. Am I right?

So let’s not focus on the future for now. Let’s not think about our New Year To Do List. Let’s talk about the here and now. Tell me… Are you taking care of yourself right now? Are you making time for you? Are you making sure you are filling your own cup first?

It’s very easy for women to put themselves and their own needs on the back burner when you have so much going on, but you really need to switch this around and put yourself first.

When you’re sitting in the airplane ready for take off and they are going through the emergency procedure, they will tell you that you must put on your own air mask on first before helping anyone else, and they are serious! You are no good to anyone else if you have not taken care of your own needs first. You are no good to anyone if you’re running on empty and have nothing to give. That includes your partner, kids, family, friends.

So tell me honestly… How is your own cup looking right now? Is it full or do you need to work on filling it?

Instead of writing my goals and to do’s in 2016, before I think about the property projects I want to achieve this year, before I do absolutely anything else, I am going to work on filling my own cup first! And I encourage you to do the same.

If you cup is not full right now I want to you to make it a priority to make sure you are doing what you need to do to make sure it’s full and it’s regularly getting topped up.

This includes eating well, sleeping well, exercising, taking time out for yourself. Show yourself some love on a daily basis. Get into the habit today, right now, this very second!

I’ll even help you out.

Great thanks Katie and I just needed that. You would think that you would be running at full pace at the beginning of a year, its just not the case with me so better get back to my personal development business and re-invigorate the mind.

Glad you got something from the post Carolyn. Don’t forget to print off your cup as a reminder to keep filling it. 🙂 Katie
